Eleonore Schikaneder
Ele (o) nore Schi (c) kaneder , also Maria Magdalena Schi (c) kaneder or Schickeneder and Eleonore Art (in) , (born as Maria Magdalena Art (h) ; * February 17, 1751 or 1752 in Sibiu ; † June 22, 1821 in Vienna ) was an actress , singer and theater director.
Life
Maria Magdalena Art was the foster daughter of the theater director Franz Josef Moser (1717–1792) and made her debut as an actress around 1770 in Innsbruck . From 1776 she was a member of the theater company of Andreas Joseph Schopf in Augsburg , where she married Emanuel Schikaneder in 1777 . In that year Emanuel and Eleonore joined the theater company of Franz Josef Moser, which Emanuel Schikaneder led as director from 1778. With the theater company they traveled to Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Laibach (1780), Klagenfurt, Linz, Salzburg (1781), Graz (summer 1781 and 1782) and Pressburg, among others. During this time, Eleonore Schikaneder played the title role in Agnes Bernauerin by Joseph August von Toerring , Rosina in Die Lyranten by Emanuel Schikaneder and the Röschen in Die Jagd by Christian Felix Weisse . In Salzburg I made contact with the Mozart family.
After separating from her husband, she founded her own acting troupe in 1785 with Johann Friedel and her brother-in-law Urban Schikaneder (1746-1818), which were directed by Johann in Wiener Neustadt, Klagenfurt, Trieste and Laibach and from November 1788 permanently in the Wiener Freihausheater Friedel with the support of Eleonore Schikaneder, appeared. After the death of Johann Friedel in March 1789, whose universal heir was Eleonore Schikaneder, she reconciled with Emanuel and brought him to Vienna to run the theater with him. Subsequently, she also appeared at the Theater an der Wien , in which she died in 1821.
She was played by Lisa Maria Potthoff in the 2011 film Summer of the Jugglers , and Milica Jovanović played her in the premiere of the musical Schikaneder in September 2016 at the Raimund Theater in Vienna .
