Elfriede Höhn

Elfriede Höhn (* 1916 in Freudenstadt ; † January 12, 2003 in Mannheim ) was a German pioneer in educational research , educational scientist and professor in the field of educational and educational-psychological research.

Life

From 1966 to 1982 Höhn was a full professor for educational science and educational psychology at the University of Mannheim and integrated education and educational psychology in her research work. She started from developmental psychology and psychodiagnostics for children and adolescents and tried to help people in special situations, e.g. B. to school failures, delinquents, outsiders, children of inland navigation, unskilled, handicapped and old people.

After graduating from high school and studying at the University of Education , Höhn was an elementary school teacher for four years , often in remote villages under harsh conditions.

After the University of Tübingen was reopened in 1946 after the Second World War , she continued her studies there. a. continued with the psychiatrist and psychologist Ernst Kretschmer and the pedagogue and philosopher Otto Bollnow , where he passed the state examination and doctorate .

After working as an assistant at the University of Tübingen, she started training special education teachers in 1955 .

In her habilitation on the subject of test theory basics of content analysis of projective tests , she showed how important the dimensions of educational and psychological diagnostics are. Höhn developed further test procedures, such as the German version of the sociogram to record group structures and the German processing of Charlotte Bühler's world test (together with Hildegard Hetzer ).

In 1966, after her habilitation, Elfriede Höhn immediately received a call to the University of Mannheim - there she initiated and shaped the emerging educational research. Elfriede Höhn became known a few years later with her investigation into a bad student.

She showed that persistent failures of students with teachers and also with other classmates can stigmatize students.

After her retirement, she became involved in senior studies and was an archeology student herself .
