history

Elbrechtstorff was first mentioned in 1409. The village was probably named after a locator Albrecht. On the basis of the tithe register from 1656, Erich Ettmüller said that Ellersdorf was previously larger and that the farms were incorporated into the Wendisch-Sohland manor by laying farms . The center of the place was the Rechenbergische Erblachtschenke, in the place of which the “Jägersruh” inn was later built.

From the middle of the 19th century, Ellersdorf was part of the Wendisch-Sohland community, and the settlement in Mittelohland was parish. Since the merger of Wendisch-Sohland with Obersohland, Mittelohland and Niedersohland to form the municipality of Sohland an der Spree in 1877, Ellersdorf was part of the same. The residents were small farmers and gardeners who worked in the factories in the area and in the neighboring "Kohlstatt" forest area. After the First World War, the Sohland forest stage was set up in the forest west of Ellersdorf . Because of the south-facing and low-traffic location with a wide view of the Sohlander Spreetal , Ellerdorf has been increasingly sought after by holidaymakers since the 20th century. On January 1, 2011, Ellersdorf was deleted as an official part of the municipality of Sohland an der Spree. The Gasthaus Jägersruh, popular with day trippers, was closed in 2013 for reasons of age.

Townscape

Ellersdorf is a short forest hoof village that was created in the upper valley of the Ellersdorfer water. The village is located in a gravel area stretching from the Spreetal to near the Wachtberg , which was washed up by meltwater on the southern edge of the ice during the Elster glaciation. Between the southern foot of the Kälberstein and the valley floor there are broad deposits of sand and gravel with embedded block packs of thin, coarse-material banks and individual up to head-sized rubble as remains of the Elster moraines. Loess loam surfaces are only found in the eastern part of the corridor.
