Elmar Bartel (born October 17, 1953 in Trier ) is a German news anchor , entertainer , author and audio book producer.

Life

Elmar Bartel was born as the son of the opera singer and tenor Reinhold Bartel and his wife Elisabeth and grew up in Trier and Wiesbaden .

Act

After training as an industrial clerk , editor and broadcast technician , as well as a speaker training, he worked from 1984 as a newscaster for the radio of the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main and as a picture director for current programs on ZDF and SWR in Mainz . From 1985 he lent his voice for all of SAT.1's program trailers . A year later, Bartel became the newscaster for heute-Nachrichten on ZDF, as well as voice actor for ZDF documentaries (Terra X, Discovery). Since 1985 he has been an off-speaker for the 19-Uhr-heute-Nachrichten on ZDF. From 1992 to 1997 he was also the spokesman for all ZDF program trailers and trailer editor. Since 2001 Bartel has also been working as a producer of audio books for ZDF and ZDF Enterprises , in collaboration with Hörverlag in Munich. As part of the 2006 World Cup, he was the spokesperson for the five matches held in Kaiserslautern.

In 2004 Bartel was the author of a travel feature at arte : u. a. “Whales don't rust” (45-minute documentary about whaling stations in South Georgia , Antarctica ). In 2007 he was co-author of the relationship guide Liebeszauber , together with Nina Ruge .

From 2003 to 2005 he directed the audio book trilogy “From the heart: 50 ZDF stars read for a good cause” (with Katja Flint , Marcel Reich-Ranicki , Brigitte Mira , Sir Peter Ustinov , Anneliese Rothenberger , Henry Kissinger, among others and many more). The audio books were charity projects for UNICEF , Menschen für Menschen and an integration project of the Reading Foundation . In October 2006 his fairy tale audio book “MärchenWelten: ZDF stars read for Welthungerhilfe” was published by Hörverlag Munich, and in 2007 the second part was “MärchenWelten 2”. Elmar Bartel also appears as a vocal soloist and emcee at galas, on cruise ships and in jazz clubs.

On October 7, 2009, Bartel got into the headlines because of a slip of the tongue in the “heute” news when he accidentally used the word “ fisting ” in a report on the subject of “ phishing ” and thus triggered a large media coverage nationwide. Bartel himself took the rapid spread of his mistake over the Internet with humor: “In the past, you had to search for such found objects on slipstream websites (...). Today you can find it again after 30 seconds in Australia ”.

In 2018 he published the book "Simply speak better - How to make a strong performance" at Schott Music, which gives professionals and amateurs tips on good pronunciation. For the accompanying audio CD, many celebrities participated with speaking examples, including Petra Gerster , Markus Lanz , Maybrit Illner , Oliver Welke and Marietta Slomka . Claus Kleber wrote the foreword to the book .
