Emil Wilhelm Krummacher

Emil Wilhelm Krummacher (born May 7, 1798 in Moers , † January 14, 1886 in Bonn ) was a German Reformed theologian .

Life

Emil Wilhelm Krummacher was the son of Friedrich Adolf Krummacher , the younger brother of Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher and the father of Karl Emil Krummacher and Hermann Friedrich Krummacher , who later became the Consistorial Councilor in Stettin .

During his studies he became a member of the original fraternity and the Teutonia Halle fraternity in Jena in 1817 and of the Germania fraternity in Tübingen in 1819 . After studying theology in Jena and Tübingen and ordination in Basel , Emil Wilhelm Krummacher was first pastor in Coswig near Wittenberg , then in Baerl near Moers , from 1825 in Langenberg near Elberfeld and from 1841 in Duisburg . In 1876 he retired and moved to Bonn .

Krummacher was one of the pastors of the Lower Rhine awakening movement . He published numerous theological and edifying writings, including some volumes of sermons, an adaptation of the Heidelberg Catechism and a collection of sermons by his uncle Gottfried Daniel Krummacher with a biography, which later appeared separately. He received for his publications in 1854 from the University of Basel , the Ehrenlizentiaten - and in 1871 on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the official honorary doctorate .
