Emilia (singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Emilia Rydberg (born January 5, 1978 in Stockholm ), also known by the stage names Emilia and Emilia Mitiku , is a Swedish singer of Ethiopian descent.

Career

At the age of 18 Emilia got a contract as a singer. In 1998 she released the single Big Big World , which became a world hit. The single was number 1 in the charts in many European countries in early 1999 and sold over four million times worldwide. Thereafter, Emilia released more singles including a duet with Oli.P . The following singles and their second album were only successful in Sweden.

After a break of several years, Rydberg appeared in the ProSieben show Comeback - The Big Chance in 2004 , from which she left prematurely due to a gallstone operation and took fifth place behind Limahl , Coolio , Benjamin Boyce and Chris Norman .

On December 6, 2006, Emilia released the Swedish-language single Var minut , which reached number 2 in Sweden. On April 11, 2007 the second single En sång om kärleken followed from their third album Små ord av kärlek .

In May 2008, I Won't Cry , a single outside of Sweden, was released again, followed by I Can Do It in October 2008.

In March 2009 Emilia took part in the Melodifestivalen 2009 with the title You're My World .
