Emily Fanning (born June 13, 1995 in Timaru ) is a New Zealand tennis player .
Career
Fanning started tennis at the age of five, preferring clay courts. She attended the "Te Kura Correspondence School" and already played in the U14 selection for New Zealand in the Junior Fed Cup. She played her first professional tournament in October 2009 in Mount Gambier .
In 2011 she received a wildcard for the main draw in doubles for the WTA tournament in Auckland , where she competed with her compatriot Leela Beattie . The pairing lost their first round match against Johanna Larsson and Jasmin Wöhr with 2: 6 and 3: 6.
At the ASB Classic 2012 Fanning again received a wildcard for qualification , where she lost 3: 6 and 4: 6 to Anne Keothavong in the first round . Also in doubles, she and her partner Regina Kulikowa lost their first round match against Julia Görges and Flavia Pennetta with 2: 6 and 3: 6. At the end of August 2012, Fanning won her only ITF title to date. She and her doubles partner Anett Kontaveit won the US $ 10,000 tournament in San Luis Potosi against the US pairing Erin Clark and Elizabeth Ferris 6-0 and 6-3.
Since 2013, Fanning has played 14 games for the New Zealand Fed Cup team , of which they won 10.
Fanning plays since the 2013/14 season for the team , "Seminoles" the Florida State College .
