Emthanjeni (also: Enthanjeni ; English Emthanjeni Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Pixley Ka Seme district of the South African province of Northern Cape . The seat of the municipal administration is in De Aar . Mayor is Sipho Thomas Sthonga.

Enthanjeni is the isiXhosa word for “Ader”, the same is also the name De Aar means in Afrikaans . The population is supplied with water from the subsurface through the use of existing water veins.

In 2011 the community had 42,356 inhabitants. Of these, 57.7% were colored , 33.3% black and 8% white. The speakers were 68.9% Afrikaans, 23.4% IsiXhosa and 2.3% English.
