geography
course
The Engelsbach arises at about 342 m above sea level. NHN in a small wooded area, east of the town of Neuebersbach in the municipality of Münchsteinach in Middle Franconia .
After the source, the stream flows in an easterly direction past a fish pond typical of this region. Then he crosses a small piece of meadow and then crosses a longer piece of forest. In this area there is a ditch coming from the west, which is especially water-bearing in autumn. In the further course, forest and meadow landscapes alternate. Then the stream changes direction and now flows strictly to the south. Thereupon some ditches with less water coming from the west flow into the Engelsbach. The stream, which now runs parallel to the NEA 12 road, then flows approx. 0.5 km east of the village of Rockenbach and then passes through the village of Bergtheim , where there are countless other smaller fish ponds that the brook feeds with water. After leaving the village, east of the water, is the approx. 326 m above sea level. NHN high Roßkopf. Several ditches arise on the west side of the mountain and after a short time flow into the Engelsbach. Then the stream, which continues to run parallel to NEA 12, runs east past Heidelberg and then passes the town of Reinhardshofen to the east .
The 4.9 km long course of the Engelsbach ends about 61 meters below the source, between the towns of Reinhardshofen and Rappoldshofen, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 12 ‰.
