history

The place is first mentioned in 1199 as "Bergere". In this document, the Würzburg Monastery carries the Nuremberg patrician Ekkehard von Truchseß u. a. two parts of the tithe in this place as a fief. In 1303/17 it was the feudal man Konrad Heider von Dachsbach who rebuilt the deserted place, in 1317/22 it was Otto Heyder. This owned three hubs and a forest in "ze Beregern" . In the period that followed, the Lords of Hohenlohe were wealthy in the village. From the fief book of Gerlach von Hohenlohe from the year 1356 it emerges that Albrecht Spies and Hanns Ochs were fiefdoms next to him. The Bergtheim Castle is mentioned for the first time in 1502/06. The lord of the castle at the time was Christoph von Seckendorff . Around 1530/50 it was sold to the Lords of Wirsberg . The subsequent owners were the Lords of Hohenlohe and the Lords of Castell . In 1705 ownership passed to the Castellian bailiff Kraußenberger. The Fraisch was initially disputed between the bishopric of Bamberg and the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . Only after an arbitration ruling on July 1, 1538 did "Bergaw" come to the margravial office of Dachsbach.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 22 properties in Bergtheim (castle, mill, 20 houses or small houses). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach . The manor Bergtheim held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties .

In 1804 the current form of the place name appears for the first time, an idiosyncratic adaptation to the places often occurring in this area with the ending -heim . The original form "Ze Beregern" means to the mountain people. At the beginning of the 19th century the castle property was destroyed and distributed to the local farmers.

In 1810 Bergtheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Bergtheim was assigned to the Rauschenberg tax district in 1811 . In 1813 it was assigned to the rural community of Rauschenberg. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Bergtheim was formed. It was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862 Bergtheim was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed the Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 1.689 km².

On July 1, 1971, Bergtheim was incorporated into Gutenstetten as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
