Enter ( Eanter in Lower Saxony ) is a town west of Twente in the Dutch province of Overijssel . The place with about 7,100 inhabitants belongs to the municipality of Wierden and lies between Almelo , Goor , Bornerbroek and Rijssen .

history

Enter's history goes back to around 1200, when the name Enter was first mentioned in writing. In Enter, geese used to be bred and wooden shoes made, the Klompen . In addition, Enter was a center for the construction of small barges, the zomps, in the 18th and 19th centuries . Numerous buildings and houses from that time have been demolished in recent years to make way for new buildings.

Development

The town of Enter has grown a lot in terms of population and expansion in recent years. For a long time the place consisted of the village street with the houses erected straight on it and the various arterial roads to Goor , Rijssen and Wierden . Pastures were laid out around the village center. Around 1940 the structural expansion beyond the old village center began, mostly with multi-family houses. From 1975 the place was then expanded in a second construction phase up to its current area.

The new development area de Goorens was planned by Enter in the direction of Goor and Bornerbroek and built in a short time from 1980. Many streets in this area have been named after old farms in the area around Enter, such as Erve Smedinck , Erve Effinck and other similar names. In 2007, the planned new development area de Akkers with around 100 apartments will be almost finished. In 2007 and 2008, the new development area de Berghorst is to begin in the north of the village in the direction of Wierden . This new development area is a project of the municipality of Wierden in order to compensate for the housing shortage that has arisen over the years. There is also a lot of modernization going on in the town center, primarily in the area around Dorfstrasse. Old buildings are being demolished so that new buildings, including some high-rise buildings, can be realized with a larger area. There are also elaborated plans for the construction of a new square in the middle of the village street. Additional parking spaces are planned near this space.
