The Enzkofer Ried area is a landscape protection area (LSG number 4.37.037) designated by ordinance of December 7, 1990 in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community of Hohentengen and the city of Mengen in the district of Sigmaringen in Germany .

location

The approximately 54 hectares large reserve Enzkofer Ried is one natural area to the Danube Ablach plates . It is located south of the Ostrach , about 2.4 kilometers southwest of the Hohentengener town center in the Enzkofen , Bremen and Ursendorf districts , and 3.3 kilometers southeast of the town center of Mengen at an average altitude of 568 m above sea level. NN .

Protection purpose

The "Enzkofer Ried" (Bremer Viehweide), with its characteristic alternation of untouched reed areas (Seggenrieder, Kopfbinsenried, litter meadows, wet fallow land, reed beds), litter meadows, water areas, groups of shrubs and agriculturally used grassland areas represent a special landscape unit. The diversity of these habitats not only causes an attractive landscape, but also an extremely valuable biotope and biotope network function.

The moorland area is of great importance in terms of both vegetation and avifaunism. Especially in the reed areas that are not intensively managed, a number of bird species, some of which are particularly protected, are at home, which have been breeding grounds there for many years. The main protection purpose is therefore the protection of this area in its diversity and character as well as the preservation of the valuable near-natural vegetation units and the open, agriculturally used grassland areas.
