Erdmann Werner Böhme

Alfred Erdmann Werner Böhme (born December 8, 1906 in Salzwedel , † October 5, 1992 in Wachtberg ) was a German transport and musicologist .

Life

Born the son of a postal inspector, Böhme attended grammar schools in Altenburg and Eisenberg. He studied newspaper studies , German , history and musicology in Freiburg im Breisgau . During his studies in 1926 he became a member of the Teutonia Freiburg fraternity . In Greifswald he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD .

He worked as an assistant at the Musicological Institute of the University of Greifswald and became head of the department for Thuringian music history at the State Office for Heritage Protection and Monument Preservation in Weimar . Until 1933 he was a corresponding member of the Paris Société de la Musicologie de la France . In 1933 his brother Robert Allmers brought him to Berlin , where he worked in the press department of the Reich Association of the Automotive Industry , where he set up the specialist library and the press archive. On May 1, 1937, he became a member of the NSDAP (membership number 4,578,642). In the Second World War he served as an air defense officer , for which he received many awards.

After 1945 he worked as a music writer and conductor of the Lüneburg Symphony Orchestra , of which he later became honorary chairman. He played the trumpet and the organ . In 1947 he became music and culture advisor at the Hamburger Echo . In addition, he worked for the German Music Association as a district manager for Lower Saxony , as well as general secretary of the art union in the German trade union federation . From 1952 to 1958 he was press officer and managing director of the Federal Transport Authority in Bonn and editor of the press service of the Federal Ministry of Transport . 1960 to 1961 he was a literary consultant at the Federal Institute for Regional Studies and Spatial Research in Bad Godesberg . From 1962 to 1972 he was a major in the reserve as a department head for military magazines in the Bundeswehramt Bonn-Bad Godesberg.

From 1956 he worked as a musical advisor at the Allgemeine Deutsche Kommersbuch . He was first chairman of the Association for the Maintenance and Research of Thuringian Music and a member of the German Society for Musicology .

In 1992 he died in the Niederbachem district of Wachtberg .
