Eric Nathan M. Kendrick (* 29. February 1992 in Clovis , California ) is an American American football poker players. He currently plays with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL) as a linebacker .
college
After Kendricks had already proven his talent in high school, where he also played other positions, he attended the University of California from 2010 to 2014 . He set a number of school records, including a total of 481 tackles in his five years in college and the first UCLA player to win the Butkus Award , which is given annually to the best linebacker in college football .
NFL
In the 2015 NFL Draft , he was selected in the 2nd round as the 45th player by the Minnesota Vikings . Kendricks was awarded a four-year contract worth more than $ 5 million. Kendricks benefited from the trade of longtime starter Gerald Hodges to the San Francisco 49ers and was able to start against the Denver Broncos in the fourth week and also scored his first sack against Peyton Manning here . After strong performances, he was named Defensive Rookie of the Month at the end of October , the first Vikings rookie after Kevin Williams in 2003. He finished the season with 92 tackles and 4 sacks, finishing fourth among the 2015 rookies .
As a replacement for the injured Bobby Wagner , Kendricks was nominated for the Pro Bowl 2020 .
Personal
Eric's father, Thagon Kendricks, was a professional football player. He never made the leap into the NFL and played as a running back in the Canadian Football League . Eric's brother Mychal Kendricks has also been a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2012 .
