Erich Rabbethge
Erich Rabbethge (born May 22, 1870 in Einbeck , † March 28, 1934 in Bergen ) was a German entrepreneur.
Life
Rabbethge's father ran the Karl Rabbethge & Co. - sugar factory and agriculture in Einbeck. His grandfather was the well-known sugar manufacturer Matthias Rabbethge , founder of today's KWS Saat . After graduating from high school in Kassel, Erich Rabbethge began to study law, political science and natural sciences at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Universität Strasbourg in 1887 . In 1889 he became active in the Corps Palatia Strasbourg . When he was inactive , he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and the Technische Hochschule Braunschweig . In addition, he completed practical training as a farmer and businessman.
His father died in 1893. Rabbethge broke off his training and took over his father's company. In 1900 he became a board member of the Klein Wanzleben sugar factory. Economically it was very successful. After participating as a cavalry captain in the First World War until 1916 , he succeeded in stabilizing the sugar factory in Klein Wanzleben and in expanding the company.
Rabbethge was active in various ways in lobby organizations and economic associations. He was chairman of the Magdeburg-Braunschweiger Cane Sugar Association and the Association of German Sugar Beet Growers . He was a member of the association committee of the Association of the German Sugar Industry. He was a member of the boards and supervisory boards of numerous banks and companies in the sugar industry and founded Deutsche Zuckerbank AG . He was chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Kredit- und Handelsgesellschaft AG , Deutsche Zuckerbank AG and Zuckerraffinerie Magdeburg AG .
In 1927 he was one of the participants in the Paris Sugar Conference . In the following period he led the German delegation in the negotiations on the regulation of global sugar production and consumption.
His brothers were Oskar Rabbethge and Otto Rabbethge .
