Erlend Øvereng Bjøntegaard (born July 30, 1990 in Kongsberg ) is a Norwegian biathlete .

Career

Erlend Bjøntegaard starts for Il Bevern . He made his international debut at the youth races of the Junior World Championships 2008 in Ruhpolding , where he was 13th in the individual, tenth in the sprint, 14th in the pursuit and runner-up in the relay race. The 2009 Junior World Championships in Canmore were particularly successful . Bjøntegaard was runner-up behind Kurtis Wenzel in the sprint and won the title in the pursuit race. In the individual he reached the 31st place and finished in the relay race on the side of Lars Helge Birkeland , Henrik Brovold and Tarjei Bø the sixth place. The 2010 Junior World Championships in Torsby went less well , in which the Norwegian was 41st in the sprint, 36th in the pursuit and ninth in the relay. Fourth Junior World Championships were the title fights in 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě . Bjøntegaard missed the medal ranks three times as sixth in individual and pursuit and fourth in the pursuit race, finally won bronze in the relay race with Erling Ålvik, Kristoffer Langøien Skljelvik and Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen . This was followed by participation in the junior races of the Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Ridnaun , where the Norwegian was 20th in the individual and ninth in the sprint.

Bjøntegaard made his debut in the men's IBU Cup in Beitostølen at the start of the 2010/11 season and won points as the 29th of a sprint. After two missions in the season, he came to five missions in 2011/12 . At the season finale, he won his first race in the second highest international biathlon racing series with a sprint in Altenberg .

Bjøntegaard has been competing in the World Cup for the first time since the 2012/2013 season and in the first race of the season, the mixed relay in Östersund , Sweden , together with Tora Berger , Synnøve Solemdal and Emil Hegle Svendsen, he finished second behind the Russian relay. In the Östersund individual race, his first individual race in the World Cup, Erlend Bjøntegaard took seventh place in the top ten and also in the points of the Biathlon World Cup.
