Ernst Balthasar Siegmund von Taubadel (born August 7, 1724 at Gut Dankwitz (today part of Jordanów Śląski ), Silesia , Habsburg Empire ; † August 13, 1802 in Glogau , Prussian Silesia ) was a royal Prussian major general and commandant of Danzig (1793–1795 ).

Life

Ernst Balthasar Siegmund was a member of the von Taubadel family . He was born on his parents' estate, Dankwitz, which he later inherited. He was also a squire of Märzdorf in the Münsterberg district (Lower Silesia).

In 1741 he joined the Prussian army as a private corporal and became second lieutenant in 1743 . As such he made the Second Silesian War (1744–1745) and as a captain the Seven Years War (1756–1763, also known as the “Third Silesian War”). In 1762 he was promoted to major . In 1768 he is also named as the governor of Freienwalde (Oder) . In 1774 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in 1788 to colonel .

On May 4, 1793 Taubadel was appointed commander of Danzig and promoted to major general on this occasion. On March 17, 1795 demittierte it. On May 13, 1795 he received the order Pour le Mérite from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II with the words "... as a sign of my satisfaction with his many years of loyal service."

Taubadel met his first wife in Silesia around 1752: Sophie Therese von Ohl and Adlerscron (born May 22, 1728 at Gut Haunold; † 1764) was the only child of the 1739 in the Russo-Austrian Turkish War in the battle of Grocka ( Serbia ) Landowner Wilhelm von Ohl and Adlerscron (1696–1739) who fell as captain-lieutenant . Taubadel married them on June 20, 1753 in the Evangelical Church in Jordansmühl ( Nimptsch district ) responsible for his Gut Dankwitz . This marriage remained childless. After her early death as a 35-year-old (1764), Taubadel married Helene Charlotte von Prittwitz and Gaffron (born September 16, 1743, † April 19, 1784 in Schiedlitz near Danzig), the daughter of Carl Moritz von Prittwitz and Gaffron, in 1768 , Landlord on Grambschütz and others, and his second wife Anna Eleonore von Paczensky and Tenczin . From this marriage there were two sons, both of whom also began career as an officer.

Taubadel was buried on August 16, 1802 in Glogau.
