Ernst Georg Albert Fischer (born September 20, 1903 in Hamburg , † October 21, 1983 in Mölln ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and state superintendent for Lauenburg , based in Ratzeburg .

Live and act

Fischer grew up in Hamburg as the son of a teacher. After passing the final examination he studied several semesters Engineering and then turned to the study of theology at the Universities of Leipzig , Munich and Kiel to.

Fischer's church service began in 1930 as a vicar in Hamburg. From October 1, 1932 he was assistant preacher there and from November 27, 1932 (the day of his ordination) pastor in Hamburg-Süd- Hamm . In 1934, while still in Hamburg, he joined the Confessing Church .

On June 16, 1935, he moved from Hamburg to Lütau as pastor . “As a man from the big city, the village and the church in Lauenburg became a refuge with his wife in dangerous times in 1935. He never forgot that Lütau and the Duchy of Lauenburg ”(Ernst Fischer junior 1983).

Fischer was one of the "men of the first hour" (Kroll) who, since 1945, have played a decisive role in the redesign of the Schleswig-Holstein regional church . Due to his constant participation as a representative of the Lauenburg Church in the regional synod, the name "Fischer-Lütau" became a household name for many. He actively participated in the creation of the 1957 order of life and the 1958 legal order as well as many other church laws and in all budget and financial matters, in important committees and in plenary sessions.

Pastor Waldemar Haase (Neumünster), deputy chairman of the pastors 'association in Schleswig-Holstein-Lauenburg since 1949, judged him in 1988, the longtime assessor at his side on the board of the pastors' association:

"1949 ... elected ... as the new assessor Ernst Fischer, who later became the state superintendent of Lauenburg , at all times highly respected for his extensive expertise and freedom of expression in the state synod, church authorities and pastorships."

On November 8, 1959, he was appointed state superintendent for Lauenburg and pastor to Ratzeburg . On December 1, 1969, Fischer retired.

In his farewell sermon before the Lauenburg Synod on October 1, 1969 in Mölln, he said briefly and succinctly about his biography: "40 years in the service of the Church, 5 in Hamburg, 25 in Lütau, 10 as state superintendent."

Fischer spent his retirement in Mölln. On his 70th birthday in 1973, his successor Joachim Heubach published a collection of Fischer's sermons, letters, speeches and essays under the title “No reason for melancholy”, which convey a comprehensive picture of his work as a Lauenburg regional superintendent.

Even after this publication, Fischer continued to take part in the theological and ecclesiastical debates of that time well into old age. For example, on May 15, 1973 in Itzehoe he gave a lecture on the subject of “Marx, Marxism and the Christian Message”, held a Bible study in Mölln in 1975 on the subject of “Introduction to the Revelation of John” and on October 21, 1977 commented on “ Trial of the North Elbian Church ”.

After a short illness, Fischer died at the age of 80. The funeral service and subsequent burial took place on October 27, 1983 in Lütau. The sermon with emphasis on the Christian resurrection hope was delivered by his son Ernst Fischer, at that time a pastor in Rendsburg-St. Marien.

family

Fischer had been with Christa, geb. Schlueter, married. The marriage had six children. One son became pastor of the regional church, the two daughters married pastors from Schleswig-Holstein; one son became a church official and two sons were active in other professions, but were also involved in the church. His wife Christa died six years before him in 1977 and was buried in Lütau.
