Ernst Reiterer

Ernst Reiterer (born April 27, 1851 in Vienna ; † March 27, 1923 there ) was an Austrian operetta composer and conductor.

Life

Ernst Reiterer was taught at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music , a. a. by Georg Hellmesberger senior , the violinist Carl Heissler and Eduard Köhler. From 1873 he worked as Kapellmeister at provincial theaters , 1881–83 at the theater in der Josefstadt . Other places of activity were the summer theater establishment "Venice" , the Carltheater , the Fürsttheater and Danzers Orpheum . For these theaters Reiterer composed the music for numerous antics and folk plays as well as operettas using motifs from well-known composers.
