Ernst Schiele (born April 19, 1865 in Audenschmiede ; † August 12, 1933 ; full name: Ernst Ludwig Richard Adolph Schiele ) was a German entrepreneur in the field of heating and ventilation systems, an industrialist and politician .

Ernst Schiele's father was Friedrich Schiele (1834–1906), an engineer and subsequently a civil servant, co-owner, board member, member of the supervisory board and, most recently, chairman of the supervisory board of Buderus ' sche Eisenwerke AG and city councilor in Giessen . His wife was Amalie Ernestine Hermine b. Buderus. His grandfather Georg Schiele (* 1795) was a co-founder of the first Frankfurt gas factory, the Frankfurter Gasgesellschaft and the first German fan factory, G. Schiele & Co. , founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1851 .

Since 1896 he was married to Anna geb. Henz (* 1875), daughter of the Mannheim privateer and city councilor Christian Henz and his wife Elisabeth Henz b. High. The couple had two daughters and a son.

Life

Ernst Schiele attended the Realgymnasium in Darmstadt . After graduating from high school, he studied engineering and mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and at the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg from 1884 to 1890 . In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Corps Cheruskia . During his studies in 1885/1886 he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Riding Battery of Field Artillery Regiment No. 14 in Karlsruhe .

In 1890, after completing his studies as an engineer, Schiele joined the company Rudolph Otto Meyer , a factory for heating and ventilation systems. From 1892 to 1894 he continued his education in North America, after his return to Germany in 1895 he became a partner of the company and founded a branch in Munich . After the death of the partner Josef Strebel, he returned to Hamburg in March 1896 and became technical director. After the death of Rudolph Otto Meyer, he became the sole owner in 1909. In 1906 he made Strebelwerk GmbH in Mannheim independent and continued the business in Hamburg as a sole proprietorship . Together with Hamburgische Electricitäts-Werke AG (HEW) , he founded the first city heating plant in Germany, Fernheizwerk Hamburg GmbH . In 1927 he converted the sole proprietorship into a general partnership by taking on his long-time authorized signatory HF Wittenburg .

In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, Ernst Schiele was politically active as well as in industrial and employer associations and social associations. From 1911 to 1921 he was a member of the Hamburg citizenship , first in the faction of the right, in 1918 in the National Liberal Party and from 1919 in the German People's Party. Later he was a member of the Hamburg finance deputation and a member of the supervisory board of Hamburgische Electrizitätswerke AG and Hamburger Gaswerke, appointed by the State of Hamburg . He was a member of the administrative board of the Hamburger Sparcasse as well as chairman of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and its industrial department. He was also a member of the full board of the Hamburg-Altona e. V. and the State Commission for Technical Lectures in Hamburg. In 1928 he became chairman of the Hamburg Economic Council. He was also a member of the presidium of the Übersee-Club and a member of the Harmonie von 1789 Society and the Rotary Club Hamburg.

At the national level he was a member of the Reich Health Council . In 1911 he became 1st Chairman of the Association of the Central Heating Industry. V. in Berlin. He was a member of the Social Policy Committee of the German Industry and Trade Conference as well as a member of the Great Committee and the Central Heating Industry subgroup of the Iron, Boiler and Apparatus Engineering Section of the Reich Association of German Industry . He was also a member of the Great Committee of the Association of Employers' Associations in Berlin. He was a board member of the German Association of Technical and Scientific Associations. V. in Berlin. He was also a lifelong member of the Deutsches Museum from 1912 . He was a member of the Executive Committee for Congresses of Heating and Ventilation Professionals.
