Texts

Ave Maria

It wants to separate the light of day;
the silent night comes in.
Oh, the heart's suffering
could have passed like the day!
I lay my supplication at your feet,
oh lazy up to God's throne,
and let me, Madonna, let me greet you
with the pious tone of prayer:
Ave Maria!

It wants to separate the light of faith;
the night of doubt enters.
The trust in God of
my youth, it should have been stolen from me.
Receipt, Madonna,
joyful confidence in me in childhood;
protect my harp, my psalter;
you are my salvation, you are my light!
Ave Maria!

It wants to divide the light of life;
the night of death enters.
The soul wants to spread its wings,
it must, it must have died.
Madonna, alas, in your hands
I place my last hot supplication:
Ask me for a faithful end
and then a happy resurrection!
Ave Maria!

"Do not forget me!"

Do not forget me! I stand in the dark land, lead
me to clarity, Lord, by your hand.
I long for your light;
don't forget me, oh Lord, don't forget me!

Do not forget me! Lord, hear my supplication!
My eye looks over to Canaan.
Give me what your prophet promises;
don't forget me, oh Lord, don't forget me!

Do not forget me! Zion is already beckoning me.
I see the skies around your throne.
If my eye breaks in death,
don't forget me, oh Lord, don't forget me!

music

The compositions are four-part, homophonic movements in early romantic harmony. They are provided with detailed performance designations such as “very slowly and intimately” - “faster” - “with emphasis” - “very tenderly” - “chorally slow, with intimacy”.
