The Archdiocese of Saurimo ( lat. : Archidioecesis Saurimoensis ) is in Angola situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Saurimo .
history
Pope Paul VI founded the Diocese of Henrique de Carvalho with the Apostolic Constitution Ut apostolicum on August 10, 1975 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Malanje and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Luanda as a suffragan diocese.
On May 16, 1979, it took on its current name. On November 9, 2001, it lost part of its territory to the Diocese of Dundo .
On April 12, 2011 the diocese of Pope Benedict XVI. raised to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese and subordinated to it the dioceses of Lwena and Dundo as suffragan. The previous bishop and apostolic administrator José Manuel Imbamba was appointed first archbishop .
