José Manuel Imbamba (born January 7, 1965 in Boma , Moxico Province ) is Archbishop of Saurimo in Angola .

Life

José Manuel Imbamba was born in the city of Boma, Province of Moxico and Diocese of Lwena. He completed his studies in theology and philosophy in Luanda in 1991 and was ordained first priest of the Diocese of Lwena on December 29 of the same year .

After his ordination he was pastor at the cathedral church from 1992 to 1995 and responsible for the diocesan Caritas. He then continued his studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He was then appointed Vicar General and Director of the Pastoral Secretariat of the Diocese in 1999 . He was also a lecturer in philosophy and the Portuguese language.

From 2001 he became general secretary of the Catholic University of Luanda and professor of philosophy at the seminary of Luanda.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Dundo on October 6, 2008 . He was ordained episcopate on December 14th of the same year by the Bishop of Cabinda , Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Luanda , Damião António Franklin , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Angola, Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu . The inauguration in the Diocese of Dundo took place on January 11, 2009.

He was appointed Archbishop of Saurimo on April 12, 2011 and was introduced to the office on July 31 of the same year.
