Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias (born April 18, 1958 in Luanda , Angola ) is Archbishop of Luanda .

Life

Filomeno Vieira Dias was ordained a priest on April 23, 1983 in Luanda .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 3, 2003 auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Luanda and titular bishop of Flumenpiscense . He was ordained bishop by the retired Archbishop of Luanda, Cardinal Alexandre do Nascimento , on January 11, 2004. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Angola, Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu , and the Archbishop of Luanda, Damião António Franklin .

On February 11, 2005, he was appointed Bishop of Cabinda .

He has been Vice President of the Bishops' Conference of Angola and São Tomé since November 21, 2009 .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Luanda on December 8, 2014. The inauguration took place on January 24 of the following year. Until the episcopal ordination of his successor on October 7, 2018, he remained administrator of the Cabinda diocese as Apostolic Administrator .
