The Erzbistum Malanje ( latin Archidioecesis Malaniensis ) is in Angola preferred Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Malanje .
history
Pope Pius XII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Inter sollicitudines on November 25, 1957 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Silva Porto and the Archdiocese of Luanda , to which it was also subordinated as a Suffragan Diocese .
On August 10, 1975 it lost part of its territory to the Diocese of Henrique de Carvalho and got some areas of the Archdiocese of Luanda.
On April 12, 2011 the diocese of Pope Benedict XVI. raised to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese and subordinated to it the dioceses of Uije and Ndalatando as suffragan dioceses . The previous bishop Luis María Pérez Onraita Aguirre was appointed first archbishop .
