Eugénio Salessu

Eugénio Salessu (born August 27, 1923 in Nunda , Huambo Province , Angola , † January 20, 2011 in Huambo ) was an Angolan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Malanje .

Life

Eugénio Salessu was ordained a priest on July 14, 1957 after completing his studies at the diocesan seminary . He was Rector of the Christ the King Seminary of Huambo Province and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Huambo .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Malanje on February 3, 1977. The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Giovanni De Andrea , apostolic delegate in Angola, on March 6, 1977; Co- consecrators were Eduardo André Muaca , Archbishop of Luanda , and Manuel Franklin da Costa , Archbishop of Huambo.

On August 27, 1998, Pope John Paul II granted his request for retirement.

He died after a long illness in Huambo hospital and was buried on January 25, 2011 at the Cemitério Histórico da Missão in Kuando.
