The Archeparchy of Kiev ( Latin : Archieparchia Kioviensis ) is an archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church located in Ukraine , with its seat in Kiev .
history
The Archeparchy of Kiev was established on November 25, 1995 by Pope John Paul II from the cession of territory of the Archeparchy of Lviv as Archbishop's Exarchate of Kiev-Vyshhorod . On January 11, 2002, the Archbishop's Exarchate of Kiev- Vyshhorod gave up parts of its territory to establish the Archbishop's Exarchate of Donetsk-Kharkiv . Another assignment of territory took place on July 28, 2003 to establish the Archbishop's Exarchate of Odessa-Crimea . The Archbishopric Exarchate Kiev-Vyshhorod was elevated to the Archeparchy on December 6, 2004 and renamed the Archeparchy Kiev .
The Archparchy of Kiev is the private parish of the Grand Archbishop of Kiev-Halych .
The Kiev Archepark includes the Oblasts of Kiev , Zhytomyr , Cherkassy , Chernihiv and Vinnytsia . The area is shown in purple on the map.
