Estevan (officially: City of Estevan ) is the eighth largest city in Saskatchewan , Canada . It is located in the southeast of the province on the Souris River within the municipality of Estevan No. 5 . The border with the United States is about 10 miles south.

Estevan is located in the southeast of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The place is within the Census Division No. 1 and is part of the municipality of Estevan No. 5 . The town of Oxbow is just under 50 kilometers to the east . The city of Weyburn is 45 kilometers to the northwest. It is about 10 miles south to the United States border .

history
The first settlement of Estevan began in 1892 with the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway . A village had already emerged in 1899, and a village had grown up in 1906. On May 1, 1957, Estevan was declared a city (City) because the city had reached the required population of over 5,000. The current population is around 10,000.
In 1931, Estevan hit the headlines for a miners' strike. During a union-organized demonstration, there was a clash with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police , in the course of which three workers were killed.
