Esther Dierkes (born February 9, 1990 in Münster ) is a German opera , concert and lied singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Esther Dierkes received her first singing lessons at the age of 13. From 2009 to 2015 she studied opera singing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in Hedwig Fassbender's class . Before starting her studies, Esther Dierkes won first prizes in the national youth music competition .

The soprano Esther Dierkes has been a permanent ensemble member of the Stuttgart Opera since the 2017/18 season and this season plays the roles of Gretel, Venus ( Orpheus in the Underworld ), Flower Girl February 1 , 2nd Squire ( Parsifal ), 1st Lady and Pamina as well as the leading role Josephe Asteron in the world premiere Erdbeben.Täume. by Toshio Hosokawa . As a member of the opera studio she has been Zerlina ( Don Giovanni ), Barena ( Jenůfa ), Frasquita ( Carmen ), Michael (Peter Pan), Ein Sklave ( Salome ), Berta ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Venus (Orpheus), 4th maid ( Elektra ), Barbarina ( Le nozze di Figaro ) and Anna ( Nabucco ) .

Under the patronage of Anna Netrebko , Esther Dierkes performed as Gerda in Sergej Banewitsch's Die Schneekönigin auf Schloss Esterházy in 2015 and 2016 and also as Giannetta in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore in the opera in the St. Margarethen quarry . Esther Dierkes is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association and received a scholarship from the Catholic Study Foundation Cusanuswerk . Since 2012 she has also been supported by the Da Ponte Foundation and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now .

In autumn 2014 Esther Dierkes went on a concert tour through Poland with the State Youth Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia under the direction of Hubert Buchberger with concerts in the Philharmonics of Breslau (Filharmonia Wrocławska) and Krakow (Filharmonia im. Karola Szymanowskiego) as well as at the University of Warsaw (Uniwersytet Muzyczny Fryderyka Chopina). The concert with works by Arnold Schönberg , Franz Schubert , Alban Berg and Max Reger was also broadcast digitally on WDR 3 Radio under the title Landesjugendorchester Extra .

During her studies she performed Jules Favre in the world premiere of Paul Leonard Schäffer's A Capitulation at the Festival of Young Artists in Bayreuth and was heard at the Staatstheater Darmstadt as Louise in Albert Lortzing's Die Opernprobe , as well as the Sand and Taumännchen in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel . At the Schauspiel Frankfurt Esther Dierkes could be seen in Max Frisch's Biedermann und die Brandstifter and Dennis Kelly's DNA , which was awarded the Günther Rühle Prize . In 2014 she could also be heard as Lauretta in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and in the children's production of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Frankfurt Opera . In 2015 Esther Dierkes performed as Csárdásfürstin in the series “Oper für Kinder” at the Frankfurt Opera. At the Darmstadt State Theater she sang Cupid in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld.

Esther Dierkes attended master classes with Gerd Uecker , Rudolf Piernay , Edith Wiens and Helmut Deutsch . She is a regular guest in the Cologne Philharmonic , Berlin Philharmonic , Gewandhaus Leipzig , the Alte Oper Frankfurt and worked a. a. with conductors such as Hartmut Haenchen , Sylvain Cambreling , Risto Joost , Marc Soustrot, Andrew Manze , Ulf Schirmer and Bertrand de Billy .
