Eugenio Casparini
Eugenio Casparini (actually Johann Eugen Caspar ; born February 14, 1623 in Sorau , Niederlausitz ; † September 12, 1706 in Wiesa near Greiffenberg ) was a German organ builder who worked in Italy for many years. From 1694 he was called to Vienna as an imperial organ builder.
Life
He learned his trade from his father Adam Casparini (1590–1665), who was a mathematician and organ builder, and when he was around 17 he emigrated to Italy via Regensburg (where he stayed for three years). First he worked in Gorizia and converted to the Catholic faith, which led to his name change. He then worked in Trieste and Venice until he came to Padua to work there for 28 years. His son Adam Horatio was born there on July 29, 1676 . From 1690 he worked in the diocese of Brixen and around 1694 he was appointed imperial organ builder to Vienna. There he erected a positive of six registers with pipes for the imperial art chamber . In 1697 he returned to Silesia , where he created the organs for the parish church of St. Peter and Paul and the Catholic parish church in Hirschberg in Görlitz , which was presumably completed by his son. Shortly before his death he is said to have returned to the evangelical faith.
He is considered the most important organ builder of the Casparini dynasty and a link between Italian and German organ building. His grandson was Adam Gottlob Casparini .
