European theater award
The European Theater Prize (also known as the European Theater Prize ) is a theater prize that has been awarded since 1987 on the initiative of the European Commission .
The price
In 2007 the prize was awarded equally to Robert Lepage and Peter Zadek . After Zadek did not want to appear for the award, the award was revoked again, as the statutes of the award stipulate that it must be received in person. In 2001, an actor was honored for the first time, Michel Piccoli , and in 2017, Isabelle Huppert and Jeremy Irons were honored again for actors. As of 2016 the main prize is endowed with 15,000 euros.
In addition, the European Theater Prize for New Realities, endowed with 30,000 euros (also European New Theater Realities Prize ) has been awarded since 1990 . As of 2016 the main prize is endowed with 12,000 euros.
