The European Darts Open is a ranking tournament in darts, which is organized by the PDC . It is an event of the European Darts Tour , which is carried out as part of the PDC Pro Tour . The venue was the Maritim Hotel in Düsseldorf up to and including 2016 ; due to the larger space available, the tournament will take place in the Ostermann Arena in Leverkusen from 2017 . It was held for the first time in 2012.

The current defending champion is Michael van Gerwen , who won the tournament for the fourth time in 2019.

format

The tournament will be played in a knockout system . Game mode in all rounds was a best of 11 legs until 2018 . The semi-final best of 13 legs and the final best of 15 legs have been played since 2018 . Each leg is played in double-out mode.

Prize money

The tournament saw a total of £ 140,000 in prize money in 2019. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
