The Evangelical Adult Education Lower Saxony (EEB Lower Saxony), headquartered in Hanover, is a state institution for the education of adults assigned to the House of Church Services of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover and sponsored by the member churches of the Confederation of Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony .

history

In May 1965 the EEB Lower Saxony was founded as a working group for adult education. In order to be recognized as a cooperation partner of the State of Lower Saxony , the Evangelical Adult Education Lower Saxony had to become an institution of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony. Since January 1974 it has been a legally dependent organization under the sponsorship of the five member churches of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony. Until 1991, the EEB was divided into a state organization (EEB-LO) and a state institution (EEB-LE) in order to comply with the Adult Education Act. The EEB-LO was founded as an association of all institutions and ag's and represented the EEB externally, developed the programs and took care of the further and advanced training of the employees. The members of the EEB-LO were the Evangelical Academies in Loccum and Rastede , the folk high schools and educational institutions in Bückeburg , Ganderkesee , Hermannsburg , Loccum, Potshausen and Rastede, the family education centers in Lower Saxony and the Society of Ev. Academy of Lower Saxony. The EEB-LE's were dependent institutions of the confederation and took care of the work on site. In 1972, an educational advisory board for the state institution (EEB-LE) was established. In 1980 EEB-LE was represented with branches in Hanover, Lower Saxony-Mitte, Hildesheim, Göttingen, Stade, Osnabrück, East Friesland / Oldenburg and Braunschweig. Today the EEB Niedersachsen is divided into 13 branches , which are spread all over Lower Saxony, as well as the state branch. EEB Niedersachsen has 44 employees (as of March 2013). Evangelical Adult Education Lower Saxony is one of the seven state institutions for adult education funded by the State of Lower Saxony. The agency for adult and advanced training of the Lower Saxony Federation for Free Adult Education is a partner of EEB Lower Saxony.

Involvement in the Office for Community Service / House of Church Services of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover

From 1966 the working group was integrated as a facility in the Office for Community Service (AfG) (Today House of Church Services) (HkD). It was the seat of the offices for the EEB-LE and EEB-LO, until spring 2018 the seat of the state office. From 1972 the EEB was part of the adult work unit. From 1977 to 1985, evangelical adult education was integrated as a special area in the office for community service. EEB regional office

EEB regions and offices

Church districts , provosts , synodal associations and ecclesiastical institutions form working groups and educational institutions with the consent of the confederation and in accordance with the law of the regional churches and establish working rules. Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is established by the Council of the Confederation. The advisory board promotes and supports the work of EEB Lower Saxony and prepares resolutions. It consists of four representatives of the EEB working groups and educational institutions who are not professionally active in EEB Lower Saxony, three representatives from the field of universities and / or adult education, two pedagogical employees, two advisors responsible for adult education from the member churches and the pedagogue Head of EEB Lower Saxony. Members are elected for five years by the Council of the Confederation. Other people take part in an advisory capacity. The advisory board participates in the development of principles and guidelines for evangelical adult education and advises on the definition of work priorities with the associated structural, financial and personnel issues. National conference

The chairmen of the boards of the working groups / educational institutions together with the members of the advisory board form the state conference. It is convened and chaired by the chairman of the advisory board at least every two years. The conference promotes the exchange of experiences, advises on fundamental issues of adult education and the EEB Lower Saxony. It decides on the list of proposals for the appointment of representatives from the working groups / educational institutions and from the field of universities / adult education for the advisory board.
