The Evangelical Church Heusweiler is the parish church of the Evangelical congregation in Saarland Heusweiler in the church district Saar-West of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The church was built in the 14th century as a parish church of the Huswillre parish, mentioned in 1330 for the first time in the Taxa generalis (directory of church property of the Archdiocese of Trier ) . The choir has been preserved to this day . The church was a foundation of the Counts of Saarbrücken and consecrated to Saint Martin . In 1575 the Reformation was introduced in the county of Saarbrücken , and thus the Catholic parish church became Protestant .

After the church was restored in 1619, the church was destroyed in 1651.
In the course of the reunion policy in the second half of the 17th century, Heusweiler came under French rule. As a result, in 1684, the director of the Saar Department, Anton Bergeron de la Goupilliere, issued an order stipulating that Protestants and Catholics should share places of worship in those places with only one church building. As a result, the church in Heusweiler became a simultaneous church .

In 1685 the destroyed church was subjected to a restoration and in 1719 a baroque nave was added. The Simultaneum ended in 1863 when the Catholic parish church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was inaugurated. In 1911 the nave was torn down and replaced by a new building according to plans by the architect Robert Rupp by 1912 . The late medieval choir, to which a tower and a sacristy were added on each side, was included in the new building.

From 1955 and from 1966 to 1967 the church building was subjected to restoration measures. The restoration in the 1960s was carried out according to plans by the architect Horbach (Heusweiler). In 2008 the roof of the church tower was restored by the company Josef Fritsch (Heusweiler).

Furnishing

The two altar windows were designed by glass painter and architect György Lehoczky ( Saarbrücken ) in 1959. The furnishings also include a sacrament shrine from the 15th century. At the beginning of the 1990s, the old altar inscription was re-attached. Right next to the classical -designed portal is a grave stone.

organ

In 1912 the church received an organ from EF Walcker & Cie ( Ludwigsburg ). The instrument had 26 registers spread over two manuals and pedal . Cone shop , or pocket shop in the pedal mechanism, provided the wind . The game and stop action was pneumatic.

Using parts of the Walcker organ, a new instrument was built in 1981 by the Hugo Mayer company (Heusweiler). The case was taken from the previous organ. The slider chest instrument has 23 registers, divided into two manuals and pedal. The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electrical. The disposition is as follows:
