The Evangelical Church Wiebelskirchen is a church of the Protestant parish in Wiebelskirchen , a district of Saarland Neunkirchen in the church district Saar-East of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

In 1732 a new nave was built on the tower shaft of the medieval predecessor church. The condition of the church deteriorated considerably by 1860, so that it was rebuilt between 1862 and 1863. At the same time, the rectangular tower shaft received an octagonal attachment with a pointed helmet . The architect and site manager was the municipal master builder Ferdinand Neufang ( Ottweiler ). From 1961 to 1962 restoration and reconstruction work was carried out in the chancel, led by architect Walter Heintz ( Saarbrücken ). In 1969 the interior was restored and the old school building next to the church was converted into a parish hall. A christening room was also created. In 1974 the church underwent an exterior restoration, which was followed by another restoration measure inside in 1979, during which parts of the furnishings were replaced.

Architecture and equipment

Today's church building was built in the neo-Romanesque style. The tower with a pointed spire is 46 meters high and has a diameter of 6.65 meters. In its lower, rectangular part, the tower is the oldest building in the city of Neunkirchen. To the west of the tower is the north-south direction of the nave, which ends in a semicircular choir in the south. The length of the ship is 20 meters. The ship is 12 meters wide and 12 meters high.

Inside the church are the three windows in the choir, created by the glass painter Ferdinand Selgrad in 1997 , which show motifs from the Old and New Testament . The company Kaschenbach ( Trier ) was responsible for the execution of the windows . A private donation made the purchase of the windows possible.

The wooden U-shaped gallery , which is angled on two sides, forms a part above the main entrance in the north, on which the organ stands, and two lateral parts along the walls of the nave. It is supported by square wooden pillars. The ceiling of the interior is a flat wooden beam ceiling . There is an altar in the choir , behind which there is a cross. To the left of the choir is the church's wooden pulpit , above it a sound cover, also made of wood .

There is a bell in the tower of the church, consisting of four bells that were cast by the Mabilon bell foundry ( Saarburg ) between 1952 and 1954 . The disposition of the bells is: e '- gis' - h' - cis ".

In the roof of the church, which is accessible through the tower, one was museum furnished.

organ

The church organ was built in 1965 by the Beckerath company ( Hamburg ), which also took over parts of the predecessor organ from Stumm . The instrument has 35 registers , divided into three manuals and pedal . The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electric. Some of the organ works are integrated into the parapet of the gallery on which the organ is placed. The disposition is as follows:
