The Evangelical Church Wolfersweiler is the parish church of the Evangelical congregation in Wolfersweiler , a district of the Saarland community Nohfelden , St. Wendel district . The parish is assigned to the parish of Obere Nahe of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

There is no reliable information about the origin of the church. The substructure of the church tower , the masonry of which should date from the 13th century, is the oldest part of the church.

Wolfersweiler was in the territory of the Counts of Veldenz from the House of Geroldseck , which in 1444 fell to the dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken by inheritance . When Duke Ludwig II of Pfalz-Zweibrücken introduced the Reformation in his countries in 1523 , the Wolfersweiler family switched from the Catholic to the Protestant creed.

In 1586 the tower was increased, as evidenced by the year carved into the tower framework. The reconstruction of the tower was also associated with a restoration of the church.

Exactly 200 years later the nave had to be renewed because it was in a desolate condition. The plans for this were drawn up by the construction director of the Duchy of Pfalz-Zweibrücken, Friedrich Gerhard Wahl . Construction director Hellermann ( Meisenheim ) was responsible for the construction . The tower was not affected by the new building measures, which lasted from 1786 to 1788, and remained standing. On November 30, 1788, the newly built church was inaugurated. The construction costs amounted to 7184 guilders or 12 212 gold marks .

Church building

The church building is located in the old walled cemetery area on a hill above Wolfersweiler. It is a baroque hall church with a three-axis nave facing north to south . On the south side of the nave there is the tower, in which there is a portal with a straight lintel and profiled drapery . On both sides of the tower there is a round window in the south facade of the nave. In the top part of the tower there is an arched window with simple tracery . In the east and west facades of the nave, three high round arched windows are let in, with a straight lintel door under the smaller middle window on the west side. Another window is in the north facade of the nave. The tower has a sound opening on two sides . On the nave there is a hipped roof with small dormers , while the tower is crowned with a polygonal pointed helmet, which merges into a square floor plan in the lower area. The wall surfaces of the sacred building, which is made of natural stone , are mostly plastered and painted in white. The approximately one meter high base and the window frames are unplastered.

Bells

In 1956, the Saarlouiser bell foundry in Saarlouis-Fraulautern, which had been founded by Karl (III) Otto from the Otto bell foundry in Bremen-Hemelingen and Alois Riewer from Saarland in 1953, cast for Ev. Church in Wolfersweiler three bronze bells with the striking tones: g '- a' - h '. The bells have the following diameters: 1058 mm, 942 mm, 839 mm and weigh: 720 kg, 500 kg, 350 kg.

Prospectus of the Stumm organ

In 1968 the instrument was subjected to a restoration by the company Oberlinger ( Windesheim ) and was adapted to the prevailing taste of the time by expanding the pedal mechanism and changing the wind pressure.
