Evangelical Military Dean's Office

The four Protestant military deaneries ( EMilD ) are federal funding authorities in the division of the Ministry of Defense . They are the Evangelical Church Office of the Bundeswehr subordinate who exercise administrative supervision over the Protestant military chaplaincies and are part of the Protestant Chaplain in Germany . The Protestant military deans are part of the military chaplaincy of the Bundeswehr and are led by a senior military dean ( grade A 16) who, unlike the military pastor, is not a temporary official .

Evangelical Military Deanery Berlin

The Evangelical Military Deanery Berlin in the Blücher barracks is responsible for Berlin, Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia . It was set up on May 1, 2013 and is headed by the Chief Military Dean Helmut Jakobus.

Evangelical Military Deanery Kiel

The Evangelical Military Deanery in Kiel at Parkstrasse 2 is responsible for Bremen , Hamburg , Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein as well as all naval locations . It was set up on July 1st, 2007 in the service building in Kiel-Wik and on May 1st, 2013 it was repositioned at its current location. It is headed by the Chief Military Dean Armin Wenzel.

Evangelical Military Deanery Cologne

The Evangelical Military Deanery in Cologne in the Wahn air force barracks is responsible for Hesse , North Rhine-Westphalia , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . It was set up on July 1, 2013 and is headed by the Chief Military Dean Petra Reitz.

Evangelical Military Deanery Munich

The Evangelical Military Deanery in Munich in the Fürst-Wrede-Kaserne is responsible for Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria . It was erected on July 1, 2007, re-erected on May 1, 2013 at Dachauer Strasse 128 and on November 1, 2015 at Ingolstädter Strasse 240. It is headed by the Chief Military Dean Ralf Zielinski.

Predecessor of the Evangelical Military deaneries were the Evangelical Military District Deans (EvWBDekan) to the offices of the Military District Command in Kiel (service buildings keel Wik ), Hanover ( Kurt-Schumacher-Kaserne ), Dusseldorf ( Reitsenstein barracks ; 1985: Ludwid-Beck-Straße 23) Mainz (Generalfeldzeugmeister-Kaserne), Stuttgart ( Theodor-Heuss-Kaserne ) and Munich (today: Waldmann-Kaserne ) as well as the Evangelical Dean at the Fleet Command in Glücksburg . They were drawn up on May 1, 1955 (Munich: 1956). The offices in Hanover, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart were closed on September 30, 2001, the rest of the were renamed the Protestant Military Deanery in Kiel, Mainz, Munich and Glücksburg on July 1, 2007. The Evangelical Military Dean's Office in Mainz was later dissolved. The Evangelical Military Deanery Erfurt (Zeppelinstrasse 18) was set up on January 1st, 2009 and dissolved on September 30th, 2013. The Protestant Military Deans of Berlin and Cologne were set up on May 1, 2013 and July 1, 2013, respectively.

In 2017, Petra Reitz became the first woman to take over a military dean's office.
