history

On September 1, 1882, Ferdinand Klein, the great-grandfather of today's company boss Matthias Klein, founded a plumber's workshop and a retailer in household goods, which he manufactured himself , in Burbach . In 1899 the trade moved to a new building on Bahnhofsstrasse (today Nassauische Strasse). In 1912, Klein's son Walter joined the business and began installing electrical systems in the Burbach area. In 1934 the shop was rebuilt and modernized. On the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953, the Klein company sold the first television set. In 1958 the legal form was changed to a limited partnership and in 1969 the brothers Martin and Berthold Klein took over the management. In 1986 Berthold Klein's son, Matthias Klein, joined the company and became the fourth generation. In 1991 he became managing director and owner of the company. In the same year he became a member of the “Expert Specialist Trade Cooperation”. Since then, the specialist stores have been operating under the name “expert klein”. From this point on, the company expanded rapidly and in 1997 a new company headquarters was set up on Jägerstrasse. Philipp and Lisa Klein, the 5th generation, have been working in the family business since 2007.
