history

inside view

A chapel was built as early as 1722. In 1793 it was extended to a single-nave church with a barrel vault and consecrated in 1795. The parish had been a chaplain since 1790 and in 1794 became an exposition of the parish of Tannheim . The cemetery was built from 1775 to 1799. After a fire in 1832 the church was badly damaged, but the interior of the church was largely preserved except for the organ. Repair work followed.

Today the parish is looked after by the Schattwald parish .

Architecture and equipment

Today's simple church building comprises a three- bay nave with a steep shingled gable roof and a round choir with a sacristy . The nave with the rounded corners and a double gallery has a gabled portal and a two-story window arrangement with skylights, and round-arched closures are attached to the wall openings.

The interior of the late classicist church is a hall with a stitch cap barrel vault over a strong cornice and with three altars made of stucco marble , altar pieces , sculptures on the high altar , sculptures, ceiling frescoes and rich stucco work .

Johann Kärle painted the ceiling frescoes in 1887. The adoration of the Eucharist is depicted in the choir, the Adoration of the Magi in the nave , accompanied by scenes from the life of Joseph and the Holy Family . The stained glass windows in the choir date from 1889, further colorful stained glass windows were made in 1929 by the Tyrolean glass painting company.

In the vestibule there is a scourge columnist by Johann Sigmund Hitzelberger from 1760.

The painting on the high altar and the figures of Peter and Paul on the side date from the early 19th century. Further figures represent Sebastian and Isidor (created in 1850) as well as Theresia and Notburga. The painting on the right side altar shows Antonius with Jesus . In 1860 Joseph Keller created the painting “The Refuge of Mary” on the left side altar. The stations of the cross were built around 1880.

The cemetery is located southwest across from the church and is equipped with a low surrounding wall. The integrated warrior chapel is attached to the south of the surrounding wall. At the chapel is the war memorial as well as two memorial plaques and the inscription Unsern dear Heroes of the World Wars from the years 1914/18.

The church was last renovated in 1989.

Bell tower and bells

The shingled bell tower has a curved tent roof and clock faces are located above the sound windows on each side (except on the south facade). The dials are constructed with black, round metal plates with white lines as digits with gold hands. The arched sound windows are equipped with wooden sound lamellas.

In the bell room there are four bells with the tuning on a 1 , b 1 , c sharp 2 , e 2 , which, like the Schattwalder chimes , were probably cast in special alloy in 1948 by the Oberascher bell foundry in Salzburg. The big bell has a clapper .
