Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 1998/99
The 1998/99 Extraliga was the seventh season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .
Participating teams and mode
At the start were the ŠK Bestex Nové Zámky , the first team and the juniors of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava , ŠK Tatran Plynoma Prešov , ŠK Trenčín , ŠK Radegast Dunaj Bratislava , ŠK Medea Martin , ŠK Baník Prievidza , ŠK Slovan Levice and 1st PŠK Aqua Rimavská Sobota the first ten of the Extraliga 1997/98 as well as the promoted team of ŠK Hydina Košice and ZŤS Spartak Dubnica . The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards, the number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a tie, no point for a defeat), then the direct comparison and then the number of board points decided on the placement (one point for a winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated and replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the 1st league.

Events
The competitions took place on October 24 and 25, November 21 and 22, 1998, January 9, 10 and 24, February 6 and 7, and March 13 and 14, 1999.
Season course
ŠK Slovan Bratislava was chosen prematurely as champions, as was the 1st PŠK Aqua Rimavská Sobota as relegated, while the decision on the second relegated only in the last round in a four-way battle between the juniors of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava , ŠK Trenčín , ŠK Slovan Levice and ŠK Medea Martin fell against the ŠK Medea Martin.
