Technical data of the electric or solar ferries

The ships are 18.5 meters long, 5.3 meters wide and have a draft of 0.6 meters. The fixed point height of the ships with the mast down is an average of 3.46 meters. The catamarans can operate at a service speed of 7 km / h and develop a maximum speed of 12 km / h. They are powered by electricity from accumulators, each of which acts on a propeller via electric motors . On the roof there are solar panels with a nominal power of 10.6  kW for charging the accumulators. The 52 solar modules have a total area of approx. 66 m². It can also be recharged overnight with shore power. Appropriate charging stations have been provided. Two electric motors with 10 kW each drive the ferry. A bow thruster with a nominal output of 7 kW supports the skipper when mooring. There are iron plates on the front of the jetty at the landing stages, and the two magnetic holders with integrated permanent magnets on the port and starboard sides of the catamaran ferry are used for "mooring".

business

The ferries are driven by one person who is also responsible for selling tickets and checking them. They are designed for the transport of a maximum of 49 people with 28 seats; there is also space for two wheelchairs and ten bicycles. A barrier-free access allows you to get on board with limited mobility people easily. Users of the ferry Grünau - Wendenschloß criticize the insufficient capacity for taking bicycles, especially for school traffic.
