Railway stations in Hessen |
The Schlüchtern train station is located above the town of Schlüchtern on the Kinzig Valley Railway in Hesse .
history
The station was opened on December 15, 1868 with the opening of the Neuhof - Steinau (road) section of the Kinzig Valley Railway. The Kinzigtalbahn is part of the initially Hessian , later Prussian railway project Frankfurt-Bebra Railway . The station became a branch station in 1914 with the opening of the Schlüchtern tunnel , which made it unnecessary for the trains to turn around at Elm station.
A modernization planned for 2018 could not be carried out due to a lack of bids after the tender. Construction work is now scheduled to begin at the end of 2020 and run until September 2021. The city of Schlüchtern contributes around 350,000 euros to the costs.
Station complex
Tracks
The station has four platform tracks, a house , an island and a side platform. The house platform (track 1) is only used by regional trains on the Schlüchtern - Jossa - Gemünden - Würzburg Hbf - Schweinfurt Hbf - Bamberg route , which start and end here. The central platform (tracks 2 & 4) is used by the Regional Express trains on the Frankfurt – Fulda route. The side platform (track 5) is rarely used. There are also several sidings and a siding. About 3 km east of the train station, the Schlüchtern tunnel begins through the thistle lawn .
The continuous main tracks can be driven at up to 110 km / h.
In May 2020, the Federal Railway Authority approved the dismantling of the overhead contact line above tracks 206 and 207.
Reception building
The reception building of the station from 1868 is now a cultural monument by the Hessian Monument Protection Act . It is a varied type construction on the slope above the city south of the tracks. The two-storey brick building has an H-shaped floor plan with a completely symmetrical facade. The goods shed is upstream to the west. The protective structures for the pedestrian underpass made of steel and glass with Art Nouveau shapes date from 1910.
traffic
Schlüchtern is in the tariff area of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund . The station is served hourly by regional express trains on the Fulda - Frankfurt am Main route. Furthermore, a regional train in the direction of Würzburg via Jossa and Gemünden am Main begins in Schlüchtern every two hours .
From summer 2018, the regional train line will begin in Neuhof and Fulda due to the construction site. Schlüchtern can then be reached via a change in Flieden.
The station is also served by a long-distance line.
