Fabian Baumgärtel (born July 7, 1989 in Bamberg ) is a German soccer player .

Career

After the youth clubs 1. FC Baunach , SV Hallstadt and FC Eintracht Bamberg , the defender switched to the youth team of SpVgg Greuther Fürth , where he played until 2008. Since 2008 he has been an integral part of the Fürth reserve team. For the 2011/12 season he was appointed to the squad of the second division team by head coach Michael Büskens . Baumgärtel made his first game for the shamrocks on March 17, 2012 (26th matchday) in a 4-1 away win against TSV 1860 Munich when he came on for Heinrich Schmidtgal in the 83rd minute . This game was his only appearance for the Fürth in the second Bundesliga in the 2011/12 season. In May 2012 it was announced that SpVgg had loaned him to the second division Alemannia Aachen for a year .

On January 19, 2013, he dissolved his contract with Alemannia and played until the end of the season, initially on loan for the Stuttgarter Kickers . Baumgärtel, who received a two-year contract, was firmly committed to the 2013/14 season .

After relegating to the regional league with Kickers, he moved to Halleschen FC in summer 2016 .

On May 12, 2018, Fabian Baumgärtel announced his departure from Halleschen FC after no agreement had been reached on a contract extension for financial reasons.

For the 2018/19 season he joined FC Viktoria Köln in the Regionalliga West . Baumgärtel was champion of the regional league with Viktoria Köln and was promoted to the third league.

For the 2019/20 season Baumgärtel will move to SV Elversberg in the Regionalliga Südwest .
