history
The company was founded in Karlsruhe in 1928 by Heinrich Heckmann and his wife Berta in order to organize regional exhibitions for consumers under the name “Heckmann exhibitions” .
The couple organized the first exhibition in the post-war period in Goslar in 1952 together with the German Housewives Association (DHB).
In 1954 the family moved their company headquarters to Hanover and - again together with the DHB - held the "Lower Saxony State Housekeeping Exhibition" in the Hanover City Hall for the first time and developed it in the following years as the experience and shopping fair " infa " into the largest consumer fair in Germany.
In 1959 the children Lislott took Zieg and Sepp Heckmann still a family -run company under the name North German company. Heckmann exhibitions since 1928 KG . Together, the two developed further exhibition concepts.
After changing its name to Fachausstellungen Heckmann GmbH in 1968, the company opened a branch in Bremen the following year .
The particularly successful and traditional events also include
- the art and antiques fair , which was held in Herrenhausen from 1969 to 2001 , and in Hamburg in 1997 and 1999 as well
- the 1977 ABF leisure fair
In 1981, Heckmann Fachausstellungen GmbH became a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG and since then has hosted most of the events at the Hanover Exhibition Center. This includes the annual Horse & Hunt exhibition , which is also the largest equestrian event in northern Germany .
After reunification in 1989/90, Heckmann was involved, among other things, in setting up a construction trade fair in Leipzig and in setting up the home-garden-leisure trade fair .
The fair elderly developed Heckmann since 1990 the leading trade fair in the industry.
