Faranah (prefecture)
Faranah is a prefecture in the Faranah region of the same name in Guinea with about 166,000 inhabitants. Like all Guinean prefectures, it is named after its capital, Faranah , which is also the capital of the entire region.
The prefecture is located in the middle of the country, on the border with Sierra Leone , and covers an area of 12,400 km². The Niger River has its source in the south and flows north.
