Dabola (prefecture)
Dabola is a prefecture in the region Faranah in Guinea with about 113,000 inhabitants. Like all Guinean prefectures, it is named after its capital, Dabola .
The prefecture is located in the middle of the country, borders Sierra Leone in the south and Fouta Djallon in the west and covers an area of 6,000 km². The savannah-like landscape, which is about 300 meters above sea level, is drained into the Niger River via the Tinkisso River . The Conakry – Kankan railway , which was completed in 1915 and operated until 1993, ran through the prefecture . In Dabola mainly rice, peanuts and millet are grown and cattle is raised. The city of Dabola had 13,157 inhabitants in 1996, it is mainly populated by the Fulani and Malinke ethnic groups .
