Felix Moeschlin

Felix Moeschlin (born July 31, 1882 in Basel , † October 4, 1969 there ) was a Swiss writer , journalist and member of the National Council .

Life

After attending school in Basel, Felix Moeschlin began studying geology, botany and economics in Basel and Zurich, which he never completed. In 1905 he began to work as a journalist; His first novel was published in 1909 . From 1909 to 1914 he lived mainly in Sweden ; he married the Swedish painter Elsa Sophia Hammar.

From 1915 to 1920, as the predecessor of Hans Roelli, he was the spa director in Arosa and editor of the monthly magazine Schweizerland ; later he also worked for newspapers such as the National-Zeitung or Die Tat . He lived in Uetikon on Lake Zurich from 1920 to 1941 , then in Brissago until 1965 . From 1924 he was President, from 1942 Honorary President of the Swiss Writers' Association (SSV). From 1939 to 1947 he was a member of the National Council for the state ring of the independents .

Moeschlin has predominantly emerged as an author of novels and is considered a main representative of intellectual national defense . In 1923 he also edited the classic book for young people, Der Schweizerische Robinson, by Johann David Wyss ; it was reissued in 1944 by the Gutenberg Book Guild and in 1985 by Fischer Verlag, Münsingen. His novel We always want to be comrades was honored as The Man from the Trench in a competition for novels by the Hamburg Foreign Gazette and the Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten . In 1947 his extensive, source-based history of the Gotthard tunnel was published.
