Ferdinand Janner

Ferdinand Janner (born February 4, 1836 in Hirschau , † November 1, 1895 in Regensburg ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and educator .

After his successful school days at the Latin School in Amberg , Janner began to study Catholic theology at the University of Würzburg . He later moved to the University of Regensburg , where he was ordained a priest on August 13, 1858 . He was then entrusted with the duties of a parish chaplain for a while. He later returned to Würzburg , where he received his doctorate theologiae . Immediately afterwards, Janner came to Weiden as a chaplain , where he held this office until 1863. In the autumn of 1863 he was appointed prefect of the Regensburg seminary .

In the spring of 1865, Janner was appointed professor of religion and history and sent to the grammar school in Speyer . There he taught for two years and in 1867 went to the Lyceum Regensburg where he taught church history , Christian archeology and art history for another five years .

In 1888 Janner resigned from all his offices and withdrew from public life. At the age of 58 he died on November 1st, 1895 in Regensburg, where he found his final resting place.
