Ferdinand Karl Joseph Leopold Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (born May 18, 1837 in Darmstadt ; † November 21, 1892 in Gernsheim am Rhein) was a Hessian lieutenant colonel and politician and former member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Ferdinand von Nordeck zur Rabenau from the Nordeck zur Rabenau family was the son of the Hesse-Darmstadt general Friedrich Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1793–1862) and his wife Ernestine Therese Leopoldine nee Freiin von Zwierlein (1810–1871).

Ferdinand von Nordeck zur Rabenau, who was a Catholic denomination, married Friederike Auguste (Augustine) born Freiin von Riese-Stallburg (* 1854), the daughter of Werner Friedrich von Riese-Stallburg (1810–1871) and on June 1, 1876 in Wojkau his wife Philippine Auguste Friederike von Lukacsich (1823-1883). The couple had the following children:

  • Son Dr. jur. Ludwig (Ludi) Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1880–1935), Royal Prussian District Administrator in Lauban (Silesia) from 1919 to 1933 , Head of the Kaufungen Knightly Abbey , buried in the family cemetery in Grossen-Buseck .
    • Evamaria (Maja) Augusta Charlotta Anita Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (* 1913 Sagan , † 1985 Berlin), dancer in Berlin, heiress of Buseck Castle, because her brother died in 1944 at the end of World War II . In 1971 she sold the ailing Buseck Castle to the State of Hesse.
    • Götz-Eberhard Ludwig Karl Viktor Friedrich Erich von Nordeck zur Rabenau (born January 24, 1917 in Sagan , † August 28, 1944 in Loriol-sur-Drôme ) fell as a 27-year-old captain. Götz-Eberhard was the last male heir, with him the noble family died out in the male line. Buried in the mass grave there. A memorial stone to him can be found above the so-called pleasure garden of Nordeck Castle .
  • Daughter Marietta (Mädi) Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1886–1960), court lady i. R. the Grand Duchess Eleonore von Hessen and bei Rhein, canon of the knightly monastery Kaufungen, maintained a correspondence with Rilke , among other things . Military career

Ferdinand von Nordeck zur Rabenau joined the Hesse-Darmstadt military (the Chevauxleger regiment ) in 1855 and became lieutenant in December 1855, first lieutenant in 1860, and in November 1867 took his leave as Rittmeister à la suite .

In 1870/71 he took part in the Franco-Prussian War and was last lieutenant colonel à la suite in 1884.

In 1873 he was appointed chamberlain and in 1878 head of the court marshals. In 1881 he received the title of Grand Ducal Chief Stable Master.

politics

In the 26th and 27th electoral periods (1887-1892) he was elected member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In the estates he represented the manorial nobility. He worked u. a. participated in the divorce of the unsuccessful second marriage of the widowed Grand Duke Ludwig IV (Hessen-Darmstadt) from Alexandrine von Kolemine in 1884.
