Vojkov (German Wojkau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 19 kilometers southwest of Benešov and belongs to the Okres Benešov .

geography

Vojkov is in the north of the Středočeská pahorkatina on the right side above the Mastník valley . In the northeast rises the V Hoře (524 m) and in the northwest of the Sychrov (479 m). To the north of the village runs the Olbramovice – Sedlčany railway line , where the Štětkovice railway station is located in Sedlečko .

Neighboring towns are Sedlečko in the north, Minartice and Voračice in the northeast, Bezmíř in the east, Klokočov, Křenovice and Drábův Mlýn in the southeast, Podolí in the south, Vysoká and Vrbský Mlýn in the southwest, Pojezdec, Vyšatoly and Kosova Hora in the west.

history

Vojkov was first mentioned in 1350 as the seat of a Vladiken Vojek. A settlement was built around the medieval fortresses and the Church of St. James was built in the 14th century.

At the beginning of the 17th century, Sezima von Vrtba acquired the rule and joined it to Červený Hrádek .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Vojkov with the districts Bezmíř, Křenovice, Minartice, Podolí, Sledovice, Voračice and Zahrádka from 1848, a municipality in the district Seltmann Chan . In 1921 the municipalities of Bezmíř with Lhotka, Voračice and Zahrádka and Minartice with Sledovice were established. 1961 Bezmíř and Minartice including their districts were incorporated and the municipality Vojkov came to Okres Benešov .

The municipality Vojkov consists of the districts Bezmíř ( Besmirsch ) Křenovice ( Kschenowitz ) Lhotka ( Kleinlhota ) Minartice ( Minartitz ) Podolí ( Podol ) Sledovice ( Sledowitz ) Vojkov ( Wojkau ) Voračice ( Woratschitz ) and Zahrádka ( Sachradka ).

Attractions

  • Vojkov Castle, the result of a fortress built in the 14th century, was redesigned in a classicist style in the 19th century. Today it serves as a retirement home.
  • Pilgrimage church of St. James, built in the 14th century. In the church there is a renaissance-style baptismal font that was made in the second half of the 16th century by the Prague bell-making workshop Brikcí von Cimperk
